What is a branding session?

 

A branding session is so much more than a headshot. It’s a chance to tell the story of you, your business, and what makes you different. Whether you’re an artist, author, therapist, maker, coach, or small business owner, we’ll create images that feel like an extension of your brand—not just a collection of smiling-at-the-camera photos.

 

What if I don’t know my brand yet?

 

You’re not alone. In fact, this is one of the most common things I hear.

 

You don’t need to have everything figured out before we work together. Sometimes a branding session is about documenting a business that’s already established, and other times it’s part of discovering who you are, what you value, and how you want to show up in the world.

 

We’ll talk through your ideas, your goals, and the feeling you want people to have when someone lands on your website or discovers your work. Together, we’ll create images that feel honest, aligned, and unmistakably you.

 

Your brand doesn’t have to be perfect before we begin. Sometimes it becomes clearer because we did.

 

I hate having my photo taken. Is that a problem?

 

Not even a little. In fact, most of my clients tell me this before we begin.

 

My goal isn’t to force awkward poses or make you become someone you’re not. We’ll spend time talking, moving, laughing, and creating images that feel natural. By the end of the session, most people tell me it felt more like hanging out than having their picture taken.

 

Will you help me with posing?

 

Absolutely.

 

You don’t need to worry about what to do with your hands or how to stand. I’ll gently guide you throughout the session while leaving plenty of room for natural moments to unfold. My approach is much less about stiff posing and much more about creating photographs that feel relaxed, genuine, and like the best version of you.

 

The goal isn’t to make you look like someone else. It’s to create images that feel so authentically you that the right people immediately feel connected to your work.

 

How do we choose a location?

 

We’ll choose a location that supports your story. That might be your studio, favorite coffee shop, your home, office, outdoors, or even multiple locations. During the planning process, we’ll talk about your brand, your personality, your style, and the feeling you want your images to communicate.

 

What should I wear?

 

Wear something that feels like you. I always encourage clients to bring a few outfit options so we can create variety throughout your gallery. Solid colors, interesting textures, layers, and clothing you genuinely feel confident in always photograph beautifully.

 

Can I bring props?

 

Absolutely. Your laptop, camera, books, flowers, artwork, tools, products, instruments, coffee mug—anything that helps tell your story is welcome. The little details often become some of my favorite images because they make your gallery feel uniquely yours.

 

How many images will I receive?

 

That depends on the collection you choose. Each package includes a curated gallery of professionally edited images, and you’ll always have the option to purchase additional photographs if you fall in love with more.

 

How long does it take to receive my gallery?

 

You’ll receive a few sneak peeks within a few days, and your full gallery is typically delivered within three to four weeks.

 

Do you travel?

 

Always.

Can you help me figure out what kinds of photos I actually need?

 

Absolutely—and honestly, this is one of my favorite parts of the process.

 

We’ll talk about where your images will live—your website, social media, newsletters, speaking engagements, podcast features, marketing materials, or book launch—and create photographs with intention. My goal is to give you a gallery that not only looks beautiful but also works hard for your business long after our session is over.

 

I don’t own a business. Can I still book a session?

 

Absolutely.

 

Not every session has to be for a business. If you’re simply looking for beautiful portraits to celebrate this season of your life, I’d love to photograph you. Sometimes the best reason to book a session is simply because you deserve to exist in beautiful photographs.
